April Fools!

Our peel-and-stick latte art isn't for sale but we've found it's actually pretty easy to become your own backcountry barista. Here are a few tips to help you elevate your off-grid coffee game.

  • Bring your favorite gourmet brew in a pre-measured packet.  Individual coffee packets are lightweight, packable and hassle free.
  • Powdered Milk is your friend. Mostly because it makes your coffee easier to drink without any refrigeration required. (Pro tip: mix the powdered milk with cold water in a separate mug before transferring to your coffee. Mixing with hot water can result in clumpy consistency).
  • Sweeten up your brew with a hot cocoa pocket. Use half of your hot cocoa packet to make an instant mocha and mix the other half into your morning oats.
  • Need more sweetener or more flavor? Bring along sugar or cinnamon in ziplocs to sprinkle into your mug. Or if you have extra marshmallows from s’mores just drop one inside and watch it melt.
  • Keep on the Sunny Side. When choosing a spot to park it for the night, look for campsites with full exposure to early morning sun. You’ll enjoy the sun on your face as you prepare your morning brew.
Low - Maintenance Camping Latte

If you are still looking for more tips, here is a recipe for a low-maintenance latte that will make you the favorite friend at the campsite each morning.

Packing List + Ingredients (for 2 lattes)
  • CampStove 2 + KettlePot + CoffeePress
  • 2 Camping Mugs
  • Reusable Water Bottle
  • Your favorite ground coffee or espresso
  • Water
  • One packet of powdered milk
  • Sweet topping (optional): We like to mix 1 Tablespoon Cinnamon and 1 Tablespoon Sugar as a tasty latte topping.
  • Flavor (optional): Mochas are easy to make using a hot cocoa packet. Vanilla or Pumpkin lattes can be made by stirring flavored powdered creamer into your mug.
Off Grid Prep

The Caffeine

  • Bring water to boil in your KettlePot.
  • Once water is boiling, remove the KettlePot from the fire and scoop ground espresso or coffee into the KettlePot. Steep for 7-10 minutes.

The Frothed Milk

  • Save 1 cup of cold water in your water bottle (this will become your ‘frothed’ milk mixture).
  • Combine 3 Tablespoons of powdered milk with 1 cup of water inside your water bottle.
  • Shake deliberately until the milk is frothy. (Pro tip: Steel whisk shake balls expedite the mixing process).

The Final Steps

  • Depress the french press in the KettlePot and pour two mugs 70% full with coffee.
  • At this point you can feel free to mix in any powdered flavors (chocolate, vanilla creamer, etc).
  • Pour half of the frothy milk mixture into your coffee mug to taste.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar to taste.
  • Enjoy!
